    Hi All!

    I've bought some DVD medias, labeled as "Samsung", Ver 2.0, DVD-R 2x; however, when I ran DVD Info Pro to do a test, it identified it as being PRODISCG02.

    I also bought a DVD-RW labeled Samsung, Ver 1.1, and it was identified by OPTODISCK001.

    Did I buy fake Samsung medias?

    Thank you all !
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

    What were you expecting, BeAll media code? Like Verbatim or Memorex, Samsung does not make their own media.

  5. I bought 5 Samsung DVD-Rs too. They were all freezing about 1/3 before the end of the movie. Since then I have never used them again and I have no problems with any other brand.

    Hello all,

    jwedge: I bought them here in Brazil, in an big street market called "Camelódromo Uruguaiana". It's famous here by their prices.

    888888 : ok, that's what I want to know: all the Samsung's DVD are made by Prodisc?? Wasn't me cheated?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

    No, Jar Jar, probably not.

    Samsung DVD medias can be BeAll, CMC, Ritek, TY, etc..., and now probably Prodisc

    You really should browse the media section on the left to see the media codes usually differ.

  8. The Samsungs with OPTODISK mediacode is from the Samsung DigitAll series. Some samsung media even use Taiyo Yuden. I have bad experiences with Samsung DigitAll +RW (OPTODISK), will stay clear of that series in the future, PRODISK cant possible be worse

    thor300, maybe you were unlucky, as this Samsung RW (Optodisk) that I have didn't show any problem; instead, I'm using (successfully) it to test the dvd before recording to a DVD-R.
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

    OPTODISC +RW can give CMC a run for it's money for the "which media sucks hardest" award.

    lordsmurf, what did you mean? Optodisck is better than CMC, right?

    By the way, good guide in your site!

    888888 : of course not! I got this information on lordsmurf's site.
    However, a fact is: I've bought a Samsung-RW media, and it's working fine (so far).
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

  14. Joelson, are you talking about -RW? Me (and smurf also) was talking about +RW, and then the OPTODISK is among the very worst. Could be you are lucky to have a burner that like this shit, so i keep mine till i get another burner, but i gave them up with the Nec ND1300A.

    thor300 : as seen in Lordsmurf's site, the Optodisk -RW doesn't show up in his ranking of medias. We just see Optodisk +RW, which, as you wrote, belongs to a 4th class media. So I guess we're not talking about the same material, right?

    Maybe it's an issue to evaluate Optodisk -RW and include in this ranking, isn't it?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

    When buying media at that place, be careful, very careful;

    More than once I noticed fake MITSUI CDR's there, remember that most products entering from Paraguay are FAKE;

    Make sure you buy always from the same guy, and that the seal on the media seems reliable,
    Unsealed ? No...no...

    Mercado Livre seems a good place to look at considering you take basic precautions;

    Of course most brands don't actually make their discs;

    Zetti,

    In fact the place I bought these medias come from Paraguay. Unfortunately, it's the only place we can buy at a reasonable price.

    By the way, I enjoy Kiko (which is your id icon), so as Chavo!
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

    If you don't want to see your precious films going away soon, make sure to import some MITSUI media directly from USA or Japan, be prepared to spend some money, but I think it's better than working hours to build a DVD and lose it after some years;

    Kiko is my idol, definitely

    Is there a possibility to lose the media after some years? How many, in the average?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.
