Hi all,
I'm having trouble creating any DIVX or 3IVX movies which will play on my LiteOn LVD-2001 player. I posted in the Players forum but never got any replies. Maybe someone here can help? I'll just repeat that post below instead of rewriting from scratch if that's o.k..
Thanks,
Leo

Hi all,
I'm just starting with ripping DVD's so please bear with me. I ran into a few problems with various Mac programs for doing so and if you want you can check out that thread here:

https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223502

I was finally able to produce a DVD-R that plays on both my Macintosh and on my LiteOn LVD-2001 player, so that much is fine.

My original hope though was to produce my own 3ivx or divx movie files which will play on my Macintosh, and also on the LVD-2001 from an ISO-9660 CD. I've usually been able to play the same downloaded movies on both platforms with no problems, but want to produce my own movies now from DVD's I have.

I've managed to produce several different 3ivx or divx movies which play just fine on the Macintosh but none of them will play on the LiteOn LVD-2001 player. All it does is to keep flashing the filename on the screen and sometimes locks up the unit so I have to unplug it to get it back to life.

The tutorial I followed had me use DIVA to create a 3ivx D4 4.5.1 video track and I used mAC3dec 1.6.2 to create an Mpeg4 audio track. I've also re-made the same movie with an MP3 sound track. Next I tried a divx 5.1.1 video track with an MP3 sound track, then a divx 5.1.1 movie with the Mpeg4 audio track again. I also tried it a different way using Handbrake which Galactica recommended. All of them play fine on the Mac but not on the LiteOn.

The last reply I got to that thread recommended using /H264 video compression as being more compatible with divx-enabled players. I don't seem to have that option available though. There are some similar options like Apple H.263 or Apple VC H.263, is either one equivalent and/or should it work on the LiteOn? Another thought was that the tutorial had me use a 96k/sec bitrate on the audio, is this too slow possibly for the LiteOn? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Leo
