    which s/w do you use to update the firmware on a dvd writer.
    I have an optorite dd0405, but the website seems to only provide the firmware file.

    What web site? Most original FW comes as an exe, either DOS or Windows - "3rd party" FW usually has to be written with an also "3rd party" app, usually provided at the same site as the FW...

    Nope. It provided a flasher, too.

    Rename the file you downloaded from "DD0405" to "DD0405.zip"

    And you might want to e-mail them to let them know that they've got a misnamed file.
