    From the website:

    ffmpegX can read non-encrypted VOB.
When encoding to MPEG-2 it can also author the video as SVCD.
The quickest way to operate ffmpegX is to set input and output files, choose a preset and hit encode.

    Does that answer your question?

  3. Thank you for your help.
Can you guide me step by step, I am new in this, and ffmpeg tutorial is not quite simple for me. I already have an non-encrypted VOB-

open vob --> Quick Presets (choose the SVCD preset that fits your needs (fast SVCD or SVCD)) --> hit encode --> when finished you have some .img files --> go here: http://homepage.mac.com/major4/divx_svcd.html and scroll down to the burning part to successfully burn these .img files --> you might want to test the burning with a CD-RW disc.

Personally I prefer the fast SVCD though it is a bit more complicated with vobs that are not 4/3 but major already posted some instructions here:

  5. Yesterday I tried ffmpegX, quick preset SVCD, it is still running and only has encoded 52% for 9 hours, it is normal?
Now there is this dialog: The application mplayer failed to quit and is not responding...
    eMac 1GB 512ram System 10.3.3
    Some light, please.
    Thank you

You tried to quit it? If you do, the encoding will fail. If it seem stuck, force quit and redo the encode. If it fails, post the process output (blue "i" icon).

  7. Thank you for your help,
After 12 hours or so ffmpegX made these items: 4.5 GB
    movie-2.mpg_02.img
    movie-2.mpg_01.img
    movie-2.mpg_02_pregap.img
    movie-2.mpg.toc
    movie-1.mpg_02.img
    movie-1.mpg_01.img
    movie-1.mpg_02_pregap.img
    movie-1.mpg.toc
    movie-2.mpg
    movie-1.mpg
    movie.mpa
    movie.mpv

Now what next for a SVCD?

    Thank you again.

If you burn your discs with Toast, you will only need these files:
    movie-1.mpg_01.img
    movie-1.mpg_02.img
    movie-2.mpg_01.img
    movie-2.mpg_02.img
In Toast 6, go to the Copy tab, then select Advanced in the left pane, then select Multi-Track CD-ROM XA. Press Select in the main window. For disc 1, drop the movie-1.mpg_01.img in the Tracks window first, then movie-1.mpg_02.img. Hit Ok and burn.
For disc 2, do the same with the movie-2 files.

  9. Do I need some DvX stuff? Or it is direct via Toast and your way.
Can I get subtitles in a SVCD using ffmpegX? and how?
    Thank you.

  10. Case,
I tried your way, and got 37 error using Toast, and an useless cd, any idea what made wrong?
    Thank you

Please specify the error(s). Toast should burn the disk images as is, only checking if it burns right. Meaning a software error in Toast, HD read error, disc error or drive error. Regardless of the content of the disk images.

  12. I tried again and now everything was almost fine, but audio is ahead of video, why?
    Thank you
