Is there one? Something I can just drop an audio file on and it will say 'This is ac3, blahblah khz, blahblah sample rate, xxx KB, xxx mins/secs etc'.

Something that recognises the formats we use would be nice, so ac3, mp3, aiff etc. Ogg too I suppose.

Hrm, it doesn't work very well for me, at least in regard to ffmpegx and ac3s.

It seems to do it very well if the ac3 is muxed together with some video. However if I drop an uncontained ac3 onto ffmpegx I get either no information or all or I get info that is clearly incorrect (some video stuff, fps and suchlike).

Maybe it's a problem with my ac3s? I've seen the same behaviour with files produced by A.pack and ffmpegx.

I'll give Mplayer a try, thanks for the advice.
