  1. I was in Costco today and saw that the Lite-On 5001 had dropped in price from $219 to $199. Fortunately, they'll refund the difference for up to 30 days, so now I have to make another trip to Costco and take my receipt. In any event, this is a great price for a new in the box DVD recorder....

I made a kind correction to what was your obvious oversight to understand we're all talking about DVD recorders. A recorder is not a writer/burner, especially when you're in the "DVD RECORDER" forum. If anything is "smart ass" here, it was your response and your lousy attitude.

  8. I just tried copying 3 movies in EP mode. The quality was acceptable - about the same as EP mode in VHS. The movies were all black & white, and the contrast wasn't as great as it could have been. Also, in some spots the motion was slightly jerky. Still, the problems weren't enough to render the movies unwatchable. They came out better than my efforts to transfer from VHS to DVD via a video capture card....

kind of stupid comment from you.... I am not aware of any TDK DVD Recorders and he was just trying to make sure that you are not confusing recorders with writers.

Costco's around here (Dallas) do not have any LiteOn drives. In fact, I got stupid looks from the stupid salesmen. I was wanting to get one for short term (may have likely returned it). The only place in stock is CompUSucks with their 15% rape return fee.

But I grabbed the JVC DR-MV1S in the meantime while I shop for the new JVC or the LiteOn 5005

FYI: I sold off my Apex recorders, they're not going to be able to handle the high volume of work I want them to do. Was starting to get some power-on issues that are the beginnings of a dead PSU.

The hunt for the perfect LSI recorder is on...

The 5005 from Ritz is what I'm eyeing right now. I'll keep the DR-MV1S until the DR-MV10S comes out (VHS-less version). I'll be adding my review of the JVC on the JVC topic elsewhere.

  11. I may have said it before, but I'm hoping the local Costco will get the 5005. If so, I'll return my 5001 and get one.....
