  1. I'm just trying out TMPGEnc Xpress and it seems to be very very slow. It makes me think I must have something set wrong. I'm trying to convert and AVI to DVD format and it is taking about 10 hours. Is that normal? I have a 2 mhz p4 with windows Xp and 512 ram. Other programs seem to be much faster, but may not be as good a quality.

My Athlon 800mHz PC takes 40 hours to convert an XviD to DVD-compliant mpeg-2 (using TMPGEnc two-pass), so 10 hours doesn't seem out of line for a 2.4gHz machine.

  4. I'm just using the default settings, and it is running now. One thing it has gone through the analysis and encoding stage and still says it has about 3.5 hours left to go. It looks like it is going to run for 3.5 hours with just a blank screen. Could that be what it is doing? Thanks for the help.
