Hi, I am trying to make back ups of ps2 games with my Sony DRU-510a but I can't, when they load in my ps2 system they only get to the part where it said "playstation 2" and I think wow is comming but no it doesn't. The only game that goes a little bit more is fifa 2004, I get to see the fifa 2004 image.
I have also a hp dvd burner and I have no problem with it.
I am using alcohol, dvd decripter, stomp record now max.
I am using verbatim, tdk media, princo, both - and +.
Is there any new issues with my burner that it can't burn ps2 games?.
My dvd burner is slave in the second ide and the master is a cd burner, but I am sure this is ok.
i updated my firmeware but still the same.
My ps2 can read both - and + dvds.
maybe this is silly but I got to the point that I am thinking that maybe because my burner is a sony and ps2 is a sony too some how it won't let me.
    Any help will be great.

Do you have a "mod chip" installed in your Playstation 2? If not then you will not be able to play copied games. Do a web search on "mod chip" and you will learn a lot.

  5. Use only -r media for games, don't use +r.

Also write at 1x. No faster until you get it going. Try to boot more than once too, 5 times or more. Make sure your ps2 chip isn't in ps1 mode, etc.
Also search the board for this, should be a few dozen topics.

Hi, well I give up, I'm going to send back my burner, I tried everything I can think of but I can't make a copy, the best one I did was need for speed hot porsuit, it loaded until I got to choose my car. I was happy but then it just stayed there .
Before when I have a hp burner it never failed to copy a game but it was a + burner and I thought it will be better to have a dual burner but it looks like I made a mistake.
I just want to say thank you all for your help and time, I think I'm going to get me a pioneer Dvd-rw a06 .

  9. Do you need a mod chip to play backed up DVD movies on a PS2?

  10. No you don't need a mod chip to play backed up movies on your ps2. However if you do have a mod chip you will have to disable it in order for the backed up movie to play.

  11. I hope I don't seem like I'm hijacking this thread but I think my question is related pretty closely to the original post.

The DVD's I have made so far don't play on PS2

    Question:
What are the known rules for make a DVD that will play on the playstation 2? Does DVD+ or DVD- matter? Bitsetting? etc?

  13. To clarify my post:

I the DVD MOVIES I make won't play on my nephews PS2. I don't know what models it is. He bought it used so it probably IS an earlier model.

If earlier models wouldn't play +R but new models will that could be my only problem. I'll try -R next time.

    Thanks.
