Hi
I think I know the answer, but just want to clear it up.
Is the DVRaptor just a realtime renderer/capture device and the ADVC is a just capture device?
Is the DVraptor really necessary????? Or can I just use the ADVC my PC to render (I know it will be slower).

the advc-100 is a two way analogue/digital convertor. you plug it into the power and it works. you then need to plug it into a firewire card on your PC. the raptor is a convertor and firewire card in one, and also does hardware rendering. don't think it has analogue output though.
i use the ADVC-50 which is a staight a->d convertor connected to a firewire card. very happy with it. -
SO with the Raptor, When I output through premiere I would select the raptor as the device, this would then render the movie and save it to the hard drive right?
Also, I noticed that with the raptor Canopus says that it supports Three realtime video tracks, so I guess that means in Premiere I can only use 3 of the video layers.
My question is, if I use nested sequences (ie: make a sequence with 5 video layers, etc, then import it into a master sequence so the 5 layer sequence appears only as one video layer on the master sequence) will this mean that I still only use the 3 layers, but with the nested sequences I could have , say, 5 video layers in each?
