  1. I am converting some captured video to mpeg2 (dvd) and captured it with my Studio DC10+ at a bitrate of about 4mb per second. My question is... when in TMPGenc should i put 4mb in the max bitrate (vbr 2 pass) and say 3500 in the average and 0 in the min. Putting the max higher than what the footage was captured in would be a waste of time wouldnt it??. Obviousley as it is footage from a camcorder I want the quality to be the best it can.

    I would appreciate your views.

    regards

    Hi Zed,
Certainly try the highest bit rate U want.... But if U want to make an xSVCD and play in a standalone try the 3500kbps sample from the site here first. Not all SVCD players support high bit rates. My OMNI 3002 maxes out at about 3000kbps. Standard template SVCD's are fine though.
    Good Luck

  5. 0 as the min, max as what you originally encoded at (though you may as well put in max DVDspec allows, I think it's about 9000, it may help that loss of quality in encode>encode>encode thing) and put in the average as what you get from a bitrate calculator using your media size and your movie length. I always drop the average a bit in case the calculator gets it that little bit wrong.
