Not to start any argument here.
At this moment, I haven't heard anything about a -(minus) dvdr dual layer (DL). I am wondering why is that. Is it that - is not capable of DL technically? Or is it that - does not have enough funding to do the research?
I am a + person myself, so I am glad + DL is coming out. But as the next generation storage formats (Blue Ray vs HD DVD, etc) coming out, I think
this is a key issue to take note on for choosing sides (alliance/forum, etc) in the future.

Pioneer is working on the - DL, it will be out next christmas according to them.
and as to your question if it is technically possible. well pioneer have demonstrated the - DL at a show earlier this year. -
It was a 106 housing with different guts.
