Use a lower average resp. constant bitrate.

  3. yes i looked at fitcd...
very well put together...but dont think is helping me yet with prob..
i started out with a 718meg avi,128/48 sound, then split into 4 avis..
    each is around 180meg each..
then encoded with tmpgenc varying diff kbit/s from 2500 all the way down to 800...
as small as an encoded svcd file i could get was around 986meg which will not fit on my 80min cd...
and only takes 3hrs to encode on my system so ive checked and rechecked but still cant seem to find the prob yet...
im learning alot from this but this peticular movie is stubburn...
i have others that ive done with no prob, usually the mpeg2's are about double the size of the orig avi...

The filesize of the .avi does not matter, only the playing time. Use the calculator to calculate the MPEG bitrate to fit the video onto 1 CD.

  5. So what you are saying is that the size of the file doesnt matter...only the actual movie running time which is controled by the bitrate....increacing bitrate will lengthen the time and decreacing will shorten the overall time of the movie ??

The filesize of the avi does not matter, only the running time.
The bitrate of the MPEG does not effect the running time but the filesize.
    Example: avi=90minutes
To fit onto a 80min CD (and fill it to its edge), use an overall bitrate 1200kbps (for example 1072video+128audio).
To fit onto 2 80min CD's (and fill it to its edge), use an overall bitrate 2418kbps (for example 2194video+224audio).
