  1. hi
as i am new to the whole dvd copying....i was just wondering if somedody could help me?

firstly i used DVD Decrypter to rip my files onto my hard drive, but seemed to be having problems, so i now use VCD Galaxy DVDRip ComboPack. all seems to go well, so i then use Intervideo DVD Copy to copy the files onto a disc. on the setting, i apply the 'fit to one disc' method on all dvds that i try & copy.
although on every disc in which i have tried to copy onto states that it has 'succesfully copied' that isn't the case...1 or 2 have worked but the vast majority haven't....am i doing something wrong???

    Hardware
    Mashita DVD-Ram UJ-810

    Software
    VCD Galaxy DVD Rip ComboPack
    DVD Decrypter
    InterVideo DVD Copy

    Discs
    Bulkpaq
    Data Safe
    (both dvd-r)

hopefully this makes some sort of sense to someone out there...it not just let me know & i'll try & go more n depth.

so if anyone has any suggestions or can help me...i would be very much appreciated.

p.s. does anyone know of any other dvd copying program where you can automatically 'fit to one disc' rather than having to shrink it yourself?

When you say "vast majority haven't" worked what do you mean by that? Does the disc not play at all or does it play back with stutter or does it play only on some DVD players but not others etc.

Can't mind read what the problem really is you know.

"does't work" is not a good description of the problem.

Also I would like to point out that DVD Decrypter is considered the best DVD ripping program out there. If you can't get it to work then something in regards to your DVD-ROM/BURNER is not set up properly which could cause other types of problems such as burning problems.

So you need to address that first.

I like and use DVD2ONE which is simple and easy to use and works better (quality wise) than DVDShrink although that is an opinion so in short not everyone will agree with that statement (about quality).

  3. I've had the exact same problem. When the burn has successfully worked, my dvd drive will eject the disc and Intervideo will state that the job was completed successfully. Other times, Intervideo will say that the job was completed successfully but the disc will not be ejected. When I inspect the DVD I discover that nothing has been written onto it. From my experience I would have to say the problem is with your media. I was using Ritek G04's (which have gone to hell lately) and I usally get the problem you are describing here. I am assuming that the media is your problem because I get Power Calibration Errors when using these Riteks with any other burning program. I am in the process of trying to find a new brand of media to use. Good luck to you in your search.

  4. Any program made by "Intervideo" has never worked for me. Your best bet is to use SmartRipper (free) to rip then DVDshrink (also free) and finally use RecordNow Max or Nero to burn the DVDR.

  5. what i mean by the 'vast majority' not working is that although they look as though they've copied correctly on the underside of the disc, some of them dont load up on my dvd players. the ones that do load up, only play so much of the dvd then just freeze.

p.s. thanks to everyone that has replied

Try this method, it has worked for me flawlessly over 150 times

    1. Dvd Decrypter
    2. Dvd2One
    3. Copytodvd

Also, are you sure the media you are choosing will play on your standalone player (if thats what the problem is with).

Are you sure your not just having compatibility issues with your player? Do they play fine when played in your DVD-ROM or Writer?

has this problem ever occured with you?
i presume my media works correctly with my dvd player because i have copied about 5 succesfully.
will the programs that you listed enable me to 'fit to one disc'...4.7gb?

    bdf24...
the ones that genuinely work do play on both my standalone dvd player & dvd-ram. the ones that dont work on my dvd player also dont work on my dvd-ram...it says that my drive is inaccesible..in other words theres no disc in there.

I'm glad to be able to say that, no this problem has never occured with me. Like I said previously 150 backups flawlessly with my method. I also, use dvd+r media (verbatim/memorex).

Yes dvd2one is the program that fits the files to the dvdr

  11. Another freeware option is:

    DVD Decrypter
    (Daemon tools - optional)
    DVD Shrink

It just doesn't get any easier than that What I normally do is the following:

    1) Run DVD Decrypter
    2) Choose "Mode | ISO - READ" and rip image file to HD
2b) If the image file is <4.7GB (ie. DVD5, aka single layer disc, backup) choose "Mode | ISO - WRITE", select the image file, and burn
    3) Mount the ISO image file with DAEMON tools
    4) Run DVD Shrink
    5) Select the Daemon Tool virtual drive as souce
    6) (optional - run deep analysis), click backup
    7) Burn (optional - set DVD Shrink to burn with DVD Decrypter or Nero)

The reason I use Daemon Tools and rip ISO image files is because I normally rip 2-12x discs at a time. And it's easier to have a collection of image files then several VIDEO_TS folders and all of their files on my HD. Also nice on the laptop (can rip ISO image file, mount and play; uses far less battery power than running the DVD-ROM drive).

As others have mentioned this method works 99.9% of the time. Luck

  17. I use 3 programs - DVDDecrypter, DVDShrink, and Auto shrink - they all run from the AutoShrink program - works great every time. The only thing I look for is the compression %, which I try to keep at least 70% by only choosing main movie and deleting some of the features I don't use from the original disc. Might work for you!
