    Hello,
I was curious about the coaxial cable in the back on my dvd player. Is this a better sound connection than the traditional Red/White RCA plugs and worth spending the money to get this cable? Thanks!

If you have a stereo receiver that supports optical or coaxial audio I would definitely look into it. Pretty big difference to my ears. If your receive has both you might want to get optical cables. They're less expensive than coax.

Have a buddy that was dissatisfied with his DVD sound with his home theater system. He was using RCA stereo cables. Turns out his system only worked with surround sound (5.1, 6.1) with either optical or coaxial cables. He was only getting stereo, not surround. I use coaxial in mine. (No matter what it's called, it's just a RCA cable, nothing fancy, and it works fine, at least in my system) He has only optical, so I priced them at Radio Shack. $20US was the cheap one and RS was cheaper than most. I found compatible cables at http://www.jameco.com/ for about $4US, about what they are worth. I should order a few and resell them for $10US.
EDIT: This Jameco link may make it easier to find on their site. Have delt with this company for years. http://www.jameco.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/Jameco/searchResult.d2w/report?sort...search=toslink

Yea thanks. The dvd player (Just a cheap $30.00 AMW) only supports Coaxial and RCA, so I think I will get the coaxial cable and S-Video for picture and ditch the RCA cables. I just got a new Receiver + Surround sound system, so hopefully I'll see a difference! thanks for your replies.
