I have a Sony Home Theatre in a Box. The receiver has one coaxial audio in and one optical toslink in.
Can I only choose one or the other? Or can I hook up two different devices to each one?
e.g. I want to hook up a DVD Recorder to Coaxial and I want to hook up HDD Recorder to Optical

yes - but of course you can only use one source at a time - but they can stay connected at the same time. I did that when I had a xbox 1 - the dvd player was coax and the xbox was fiber optic. I'm planning on doing that again with my used ps2 I got earlier in the year. I just still haven't gotten around to hooking up the cable.

Yep. Plug away
Your other option is you can get a fiber optic switcher. You can get it where you can have multiple inputs into just one jack. THen you just switch which unit is active. I haven't seen one myself but I know they have to make them. THat way if you have a ps2, ps3, xbox 1 or 360 and all are fiber optic only then you can plug them in and switch at will.Donatello - The Shredder?
