I have not tried my AIW 9800 Pro for capture yet but I wanted some opinions on the subject...
I can either capture with my camcorder hooked to the comp via firewire and Scenalyzer for capturing or I can use my AIW card.
What would give me the best quality video? I am capturing to AVI, then editing, then authoring......etc
thanks as always!!

Capturing with AIW should work fine, but requires a little bit more attention to codecs, having a fast enough system, minimizing background tasks. It is more prone to dropping frames and audio sync problems than firewire capture. Some guys never have problems, but I think it requires a bit more fiddling and knowledge to make AIE capture work perfectly.
As for image quality, firewire means you would capture in DV format which is of very high quality but still a compressed format. Some would argue that capturing with your AIW with a lossless codec such a Huffyuv would give a better quality, but I don't think I could tell the difference.
Why not experiment and see for yourself? Firewire is easy to try, and for analog capture, use a motion jpeg codec at high quality or huffyuv. Refer to www.digitalfaq.com for help on capturing with ATI cards.
