  1. Can someone explain?

    When opening in Virtualdub mpeg-2 (which is the only one accepting the file) I can clearly see its a mpg-file.

    GSpot that I normally use to check if DivX/Xvid does not take it (obviously since its a mpg-file).

    Why is it shown as "AVI Video" in Explorer??

  2. stupid me - now sorted

    if anyone wondered:

    it was named with the wrong extension.

    in explorer, Tools - Folders_option - File_types choose AVI and advanced and tick "always show extension" do the same for .mpg

    then rename with correct ending in Explorer
