  1. I find that no matter what program I use whenevr I cut something out of teh movie it always throws the sound off and most o fthe time it throws it off by alot. I've done everything I can think of and nomatter what I use t does the same thing...clearly not everyone is having this problem because if they did there wouldnt be a vcd industry in the first place due to the fact that it renders it unusable.....what should I do and more importantly what program should I use that ownt do this annoying thing to me

    gurgsprout,

For starters, ...Need more info. ie., whats your device?
DVC, PVR, DC10+, ATI card, what??

And, which editor are you using?

  3. well regardless of the device (whihc happens to be wintv-pvr) when I have the actual file and want to cut out commercials or I just want to split it into 2 files It always ocmes with the audio way out osync. Up until now I have been using tmpge (or something like that) but it has yet to do anything for me of value so I deleted it and gave up.

  4. How did you cut it (program) and what did you cut (the source avi or the encoded MPEG). For a large number of reasons you really don't want to try to edit the final MPEG (it's slow and sync problems are common). It's much easier to edit the source then encode w/ TMPGenc.

There are a lot of ways to to this (that's why vhelp) asked what your system/software is like. Normally I just choose start/stop points in Virtual Dub, then frameserve to TMPGenc or CCE.

    gurgsprout,

I use the wintv pvr too (USB). And, it dos NOT come with ANY editor!!
I went crazy for a while with all kinds of editor/encoders etc. till I found
the right app for my cuts. womble is pretty much what I use. And, I
even have a simple process for me.
You say you have the wintv pvr, but you diddn't say you have the pci
or usb. So, I'll assume you have the pci version - which COMES with an
editor, etc. I would assume if you use it, you wouldn't have audio
issues. I dont' even know what it looks like, so... I like the my USB
pvr model. I like capping Star Trek at 6, and 10pm and cut out all
the commercials reall quick (ok, may a half hour for each), but it quick
and I can burn a bunch of CDs in one evening - provided I have prev.
capped TV shows earlier. Anyways, I use womble for the commercial
cuts. I don't use ANY special features, ie., transitions. they only add
to audio issues. I'm dissapointed that the pvr (usb) didn't come with
any editors or other software FTM, but my caps (2520Mbits) are pretty
good, pending on quality of source being shown on my satalete.

Anyway, you might want to give womble a try. Sorry, I don't have the
exact link, but I must have downloaded half dozen from various sources
using search engines. Look for the one for mpeg-2.

    Vejita-sama,
He's using the wintv pvr (pci or usb - didn't say) I know the pci version
can cap to avi as well, but gurgsprout didn't say.
But, I do the same. ...when I cap to avi. ...frameserver to tmpgenc
    (not cce)

Well, is 2:30am and I'm going ta bed. I too have an audio issue, but
w/ the ATI Rage Fury card. I've already posted my problem, and hope
to see an answer some time tomorrow.

  6. I have the USB version and it did come with some type of editor (and even if it didnt you can download it for free at their web site) but of course that one as well throws the audio out.....its funny you mention that star treck thing because thats the same exact thing I do for the simpsons but of course I cant take out the commercials so I end up burning them to disc with the commercials and just fast foward. Thanks though for the womble thing Ill look that up and see what happens..Ill keep ya posted
    Thanks again
