    Help!
I'm looking for any Hardware MPEG2 encoders, which lets you convert any *.avi file that I have created, to DVD compliant MPEG2 files, maybe TMPGENC style, but using the onboard Hardware Encoder instead of the computers processor.

I have been looking at Hauppauge PVR-350 or similar hardware, but as I can see it, it only converts the Video input or the TV signal.

As far as I know, the device you're looking for just doesn't exist....

How do you plan to do that ? To feed the output from your video card into an external box or PCI card RCA plug ?

Confusing......TMPGEnc and a bunch of other sw's out there do what you want very nicely :P

How are Hollywood doing their encoding - I simply cannot imagine, that they are using software based encoding. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think they do, using professional tools though, probably something you won't find here for $ 50 neither $ 500.....for example, for DVD authoring, Hollywood uses tolls like Maestro and Scenarist, that goes from $ 5000 to $ 50000 with all plug-ins

    I found one at Canopus:
    http://www.canopus-uk.com/US/products/MPEGPRO_MVR/pt_MPEGPRO_MVR.asp
and it is capable of converting *.avi files:

    Versatile functionality
MPEGPRO MVR functions not only as a realtime analog video to MPEG encoder, but also encodes existing DV files to MPEG at near-realtime speed using the DV-MPEG conversion utility. MPEGPRO MVR also features an export plug-in for
Adobe® Premiere® that provides quick timeline encoding into high-quality MPEG files.
    Price: £299 ex. vat.

Well, I wish you good luck, but as far as I realized it says that the bundled-in sw makes the conversion, not the hardware card, e.g.; same as TMPGEnc....

Sorry, you need software for that request. Faster CPU, more patience and best software you can buy will be needed. Look at Canopus Procoder.
