  1. my friend is making backups for my dvd movies, mostly anime. and he is gonna use generic brand dvd-r media. basically it is a no name brand (i think) its not princo, tdk, ritek, verbatim etc.

how reliable is generic brand dvd-r media?

most of my dvd-r i have is mostly princos about 20 of them and i have 10 verbatim dvd-r backups.

i've had them for 2 years now, and they work fine to this day.

can you tell me anything more about generic brand dvd-r media?

    Complete shit.

I have some Princos (from 18-24 months ago). The ones that actually burnt okay work fairly well now. About 75% work of the 75% that burnt.

Princo isnt generic, it's a name brand. Yeah, its a crappy name brand, but still. Kinda like a Kia.

Generic, hmmmm. I would say something like compusa discs.

In any event, its all relative and subjective.

That's what I meant. They're "brand name", but bottom of the barrel stuff. I can only imagine the stuff that's too cheap toeven have a name.

  9. For a few extra pence you can have some better discs, which will last longer and give you peace of mind that you will not lose what you have created.
