Hi all, I managed to turn my avi video to mpg-2 and make a Svcd with TMPGE, and VCDEasy.

When I play it in my DVD player it shows up in widescreen (black bars on top and bottom of tv screen) Is it possible to fix this so that the Svcd fills my entire tv screen?

    Any help is needed, Thanks.

  2. Is the source widescreen? If the source is widescreen and your svcd looks ok (no very fat and short people ) then your svcd is ok.

I am not sure of the source, but when I made a VCD the exact same way it filled up the entire tv screen, and looked ok.

Only the SVCD shows up in widescreen on my tv, and it does stretch the picture and make things look wide/fat.

  4. If you want TMPGEnc to maintain the aspect ration of the original file then just click on "other settings and then advanced and then on the video range method window select "full screen (keep aspect ratio 2). This is how I have always done it. hope this helps

This is killing me, nothing worked, I tried both suggestions, after burning I still get a widescreen Svcd video on my tv. Someone somewhere please help.

I changed the aspect ratio on tmpgenc it did not make a difference, on the final Svcd via vcdeasy.

How can a man make a svcd that isnt in widescreen?

What resolution is your avi? I have a feeling it's widescreen to begin with.

if you convert it you will lose part of your picture. this has been covered in previous posts.....better off leaving it widescreen. This was more than likely the way the movie was shot.

  8. I see your standalone player is Pioneer. Some had problems with SVCD aspect ratio, and was therefor not officially SVCD compliant. Try under the video menu to set your TV type to 16:9, that usually does the trick. Then you need to change back again next time you play a DVD.
