  1. I have recently been having a problem..... i am doing divx to VCD conversion, in the process i usually convert the Audio to WAV. On this occasion the audio format was VBR mp3, when opened in virtual dub There was a popup saying that vbr values will be encoded in to regular cbr values. I continue, but when i go to save to wav but it doesnt fully save the wav file. I have tried other progs like goldwave and besweet they were kinda complicated, with goldwave i have no idea what to do i click open and select the divx source and it says decompressing.... it takes a while and was creating files over 1 gig so i aborted it. Be sweet i just didn't understand at all. Some one recomended nandub so i could save it to seperate MP3 than convert it to WAV, but ive downloaded nandub frm numerous sources and it didnt come with the required dll files.... couldnt find them anywhere either.

Any help with this Problem would be much appreciated

The "Decompress" program comes from AVI2VCD program you can get:

I use Goldwave, it can't be any easier. Load your avi then save..that's it. A typical wav file for a movie will be about 1 GB, it is uncompressed audio after all.

You may want to try Ffmpeggui to convert to AC3.

AC3 is usually used when creating a DVD.

  6. You might get a more accurate result if you demux the audio to mp3 and then use lame to decode to wave

Last thing.... isn't there a setting in VirtualDub that will append (chop off) the audio if it is longer duration than the video? If VirtualDub can't read VBR audio very well, it might consider the audio longer than it actually is.
(It's in "Video" menu / "Select Range")
