  2. Install ForceASPI Drivers first and see if that works. Its a modified version of Adaptec's last stable release, 4.61 I believe.

  3. I would appreciate your input , I have windows xp. In Nero Info Tool it
    shows that Nero ASPI is installed but not the systems ASPI. Do I need
    them both? Thanks

  4. Nero keeps its ASPI driver in the Nero directory, and is intended for Nero only. Occasionally software will access the Nero API and make use of it, but for other software you might want to install a System ASPI.

    Nero ASPI and Adaptec ASPI 4.72 do not interfere with each other, at least on my system.

    I've heard alot of complaints of Adaptec ASPI 4.7 series not installing all the registry entries it needs (Exclude Miniports).

    Simple fix;
    ----------------------------------
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Aspi32\Parameters]
    "ExcludeMiniports"=""
    ----------------------------------

    I agree, the Radified guide to ASPI should be helpful.
    http://aspi.radified.com/

    On my system i even chose to install Adaptec ASPI 4.72, and then rename the "wnaspi32.dll" to "wnaspi32.BAK" and then copy the same file from Nero directory to C:\WinNT\System32 (Win2k system w/U2 SCSI).

    Now third party burning software that uses system ASPI can access USB.

    My preference for Win98 is still Adaptec ASPI 4.6 (same as ForceASPI).
