I am using CCE SP and AviSynth to convert *.avi files to DVD. However I need my file to be in 25fps while it actually is in 23,97fps. I have been recommended to use PULLDOWN.exe and PullDownBatchFE as the GUI. However after running my file through the program it keeps coming up short. For example my 1h 38min file became 57min and thus becoming horribly out of sync with the audio when I try to Author the DVD. I have read that converting to 25fps are just speeding things up 4% so I also run my audio through BeSweet to get it into 25fps. But from 1h 38min to 57min is not a 4% speed increase. Just to check that there was no problem with that particular movie I encoded another one and run it through PULLDOWN as well. Despite being at least 15min longer it too came out around 50min. I admit that I may have made some wrong adjustments in the PullDownBatchFE options because the guides I have found are not very thorough at this point, though the options are kind of self explanatory. Also worth noting, though it might be unimportant, is the fact that when I loaded the file in CCE it showed a few seconds shorter than GSpot. Any way to fix that? Which program is showing the wrong length of the movie? Yes I have checked that CCE is configured with 23,9fps so it should not be reading wrong time because of that.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Ok. What do I need to add to my avisynth script so the file will be converted into pal? Also, if I am reading you correctly dosen't this mean that the file will be converted in CCE? What about all the warnings I have read about using CCE to perform that kind of operation? And don't you think it is strange that I get those results with PULLDOWN?

If you want to convert FILM to PAL the "old" way, just add the following line at the end of you script:

    ASSUMEFPS(25)

Then, stretch your audio the required percentage (approx -4%), then recombine and check for audio sync.

Adding the FPS line just relabels it as 25 (which will speed it up approx 4%). You then need to convert your audio likewise.

Yeah that worked great on my 23,9fps movie, but can you do the same thing with 29fps files? And what about the audio? There seems to be only one setting for converting the audi (in say . . . BeSweet) and thus going the other way when the source is 29fps would make it even more out of sync would it not?
