  3. From what I know there can be no AC3 (that's Dolby Digital) soundtrack on a SVCD disc. On DivX yes, on DVD sure, but not on SVCD, not even with Linux.
If I'm not very mistaken, the only solution for multi-channel audio with SVCD (not counting Dolby Pro-Logic) is MPEG-audio (or something) which is an almost defunct DD/AC3 rival developed by Philips.
There are some Windows tools that do AC3 -> MPEG-audio conversion, but the problem is not encoding, it's decoding ie playing. Almost no multi-channel amps accepts MPEG multichannel audio, except the ones made by Philips. I seriously doubt your Sony would be able to playback MPEG multichannel audio even if you manage to encode it in your SVCD. If you can find the MPEG-audio logo on your amp (it should be next to DD and DTS) you're lucky, otherwise you have no chance.

  4. Thanks for the imput.
I'm trying to burn a miniDVD.
I belive my amp has the ability to decode DD from the raw form. I have 2 DVD players, one is a PS2 which has a decoder built in and the other is a daewoo DVG-5000N which has no decoder just an optical output.
In either case my Sony will decode the raw audio file to DD.
If there is no way to author a MiniDVD, is there a way to make the Mpeg2 file with the DD encoding. I can play a Raw Mpeg1 or 2 File on my Daewoo, no luck with the PS2 in this format. (Ofcourse)..Thanks everyone..

  5. For DVD you can use SoftEncode from Sonic foundry. It can encode to ac3. It is hard to find because they only have made version 1.0 and after that it was taken out of the market.

    e-mail me for more info.
