I think I finally found a program that will actually create DVDs with decent video quality , sound and video that are in sync from beginning to end and basically gives an almost exact match of a captured VHS tape.

After wasting a lot of time and money trying to get ULead Video Studio 7, Nero Vision Express, Roxio DVD Builder, and a slew of lesser programs to create good DVDs of my VHS collection, I tried Cyberlink's Power Producer 2 Gold...I wasn't expecting much, but I was really surprised when I captured a 1hr 40 min.VHS movie, trimmed some excess advertising at the start and then made a movie and burned it in 3 hours.

I was really surprised when I played it in my DVD player... the video quality was about as good as the original tape, the sound even played in all speakers of my surround sound system, though there was ocassional scratchiness. This program doesn't give you a lot of bells and whistles, but it does give basic editing capability... and just the thought of audio and video in sync thrills me to no end.

The trial version I used had all functions available for use, so anyone who wants to try it out for 30 days can get a pretty good reading on how well it will work for them.

There is also the capability to import video and audio for creating DVDs with chapters, making slide shows etc... a lot of the functionality of ULead, Nero or Roxio, but this appears to actually work.

I used a Data Video DAC-100 to capture to my computer through the Firewire port on my Audigy sound card, for some reason I get much better (cleaner) sound using the sound card 1394 interface than the one on my motherboard.
