    Panasonic Digital DVC Metal Series

MiniDV Tape 3PK at Walmart for $12.43.

Just last week or so ... the 3PK was selling for over $17 dollars.

    Just bought a 3 pack at 3 PM ... March 23rd.

$5 bucks less than last week.

    At Walmart in Hanford CA

I just bought the same 3 pack of tapes at walmart in las vegas for $10.88,, the girl said that walmart isn't going to be getting them in again, that's why they're getting marked down so low,,, are they good tapes I hope? What the heck does "metal series" mean?

    yeah ... last night ... I saw that ... I bought one for 10.88 ... also.

Metal Series ... is most likely related from the days of audio cassettes days.

It's the type of oxide used ... it's like buying high grade super duper cassette tape. TDK Avilyn series ... for example.

I noticed Panasonic has [at Walmart] last night ... longer length DV tapes.

Instead of 60 and 90 ... it was 80 minutes for the 60 minute setting.

Something has been made thinner ... either the plastic tape itself or the Metal oxide applied to the plastic tape. Or both.

Could cause problems ... buying 120 minute audio cassette tapes was something never recommended.

Quality ... works fine with my ... JVC GRDV500US and my JVC GRDV800US.

Thanks for the info about dropping the price because they are phasing them out.

I will buy some more before they're gone.

  4. jvc standard length tapes (which i've been having excellent experiences with lately) have been rocking out at ecost.com for 1.90 each if you're looking for inexpensive minidv tape. shipping is free over $25 and the "handling fee" they charge at the end of the order is frequently waved.
