  1. I am trying to capture some home videos off my VCR to my PC.
I can hear the audio but don't get any video. I have messed with almost every setting in the ATI software(ATI Capture card). I also have PowerVCR and that won't show any video either.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

How do you have the VCR connected to the PC? Also which card are you using?

  3. ATI TV Wonder Card
I have the VCR connected to the card with RCA cables, Yellow = Video
    Red = Audio

I can hear the Audio through the PC, the Video setting in the ATI Software is on Composite.
I just did about 5 -8mm Tapes from the camera to the PC and they worked out great.
I just can't get the VCR to work... "shrug"
    Thanks,
    Dave

Not trying to be a jerk with these, but:

Is the VCR set to line out?

Did you try the VCR on your TV? - perhaps it died.

    Are your composite cables OK?

If you hook up a different device (DVD player, Laserdisc, etc) do you get a picture?

Did you install the MV hacks? Some ATI cards (mine included) will not recognize any tapes including my non-MV homemade tapes.

    Good luck.

  5. Thanks for the reply.

I can hook up my cam-corder fine, it works great.
The VCR works when hooked up to a TV.

I hook the RCA cables from the OUT on the VCR to the capture card.
When I push play, you can see the word PLAY on the PC screen, you can hear the audio from the VCR... but NO Video.
When I use Nero Vision Express to capture from the VCR it says "Recording Disabled, No Signal Detected", again I can hear the Audio from the VCR in Nero.
This is a home video on the VCR so I shouldnt need any "MV Hack" should I? If so where can I find?
    Thanks again,
    Dave

    MV - http://www.digitalfaq.com/capture/atiavi/atiavi.htm

Hardware processors to bypass MV - http://search.ebay.com/sima_Consumer-Electronics_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfmcZ1QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ...300QQsacatZ293

Pretty much anything by SIMA that is for color correction will do the job.

The Sima SCC solved my problem 100% - the MV hacks did not - but they work for many other people so they are worth a try first.

    Good luck.
