The 1.07 Beta 6 by Herrie is excellent. Have been using it for a few weeks and its really really good.

Allows bitsetting and 8x burning with a LOT of media.

  4. Herrie beta 7 is out now and he said RitekG04s should burn at 6x or 8x and most common 4x DVD+R's and 4x DVD-R's should work @ 8x now, including RICOHJPN R01. This firmware will also have bitsetting, riplock, and all regions too.

This is driving me bonkers ( not a great distance I might add).
I have been trying for weeks to get herries firmware for my 2500a.
I did a dvdrhelp and google search for it and all the links point to
    http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=1 ... 51b83594c6
or some other area of rpc1.org..
All I get is a gateway timeout error.
I have sent others to these various url's and they get the same thing.
Does anyone know of ANY other location that is offering these firmware
    upgrades????

    TIA

Yes I have, and countless other references to this firmware.
All I get is a gateway timeout error.
Strangely enough, I can go anywhere else on the web, with ease.
    Totally weird.

  11. I have installed the beta 7 updates for the NEC and also found a region free firmware hack for my lite on DVDROM, instaled both yesterday without a hitch. Both updates were done from within Windoze and took seconds. Will do some burn tests tonight.

    Hi all,

I've tried the Beta7 and it picked up my Arita 4x DVD-R as 6x.

This was good, but when I burnt a DVD to it, it would not play on my Sony 335 DVD Player, giving me a C13:00 error (Dirty Disk I think).
All media burnt before the upgrade played fine. I tried several disks, even burning at 2x, but to no avail.

I have flashed it with the original 1.06 Firmware, but I am still getting this error.
The DVDs play fine on the computer and at the moment I have no other players to test it on.
DVD-RW's still burn and play on the Sony.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Paul.

    Another update.

I tried a project I'd compiled myself with DVD-Lab at it worked fine.

What I was trying to burn was an already created set of VOB files. These were extracted and burnt with Nero.

Once I'd extracted the video/audio with Vobedit, I then compiled with DVD-Lab and burnt to DVD. This then played successfully.

I have reinstalled 1.07 and will test later.

  15. Nice. My shitty no brand 2-4x DVD-R now burns at 6x rather than the 2x it used to burn at.
