Hi, people. I have a little poblem. I have downloaded a great DVDR "The Last Samurai." But the IFO and BUP contained some wrong information about the chapters. So, then the guy who posted the movie posted better IFO files so I can now browse through the chapters. Yet, I have a problem the menu for some unknown reason is rejected. When you play it on computer it just skips the menu. When you play it on stand alone DVD player the menu starts, but I cannot do anything in it. Buttons do not work, and I cannot even play the movie. Yet, the menu clips play. What I have come to, is that replaced IFO files contain some wrong information about the menu. So, can anyone explain to me what might be wrong, and if it is possible to fix it.
And some extra information that might help:
When I first replaced the IFO/BUP files the subs turned bright green, so I could not read anything at all. Then I fixed subtitle color to white using IFOEdit. As far as I can understand that the movie was compressed and may be even ripped, and it possible that lots of work on it was done using IFOEdit. I am new in using this program, and do not know much of what it can do. I have the menu clip, it is 94MBs. It is very nice menu, it would be really sad to lose it, considering that the size was counted for it. Now I have 94Megs empty on DVDR. So, if anyone knows anything on how you can possibly fix it, please help. Oh, and the original IFO/BUP files were overwritten. If there is absolutely no other way to do it without the original IFO files, I am ready to download the movie again.

Well, technically I can watch it. Just burn without the menu. Yet, is there a way to fix the menu?

Man, you see I want to know how IFO files work, and how to fix different kind of problems. I may come to the same problem again and again and again. I want to know how solve different kinds of things. And, it is legal in Canada to download staff from the net, yet it is illegal to upload it. So, in reality I did not break any laws. It is people who put it on the net. And I am not the only person who comes to this site and has downloaded 2-3 movies from the net. I bet 50% of people on this site download movies in some form or another. Face it folks, many people here download the movies, they just don't try to be honest, they hide it that's all. You probaly helped some pirates on this site. As for me, I just want to know how to fix these kinds of problems. I've watched the movie already, and I can burn it without the menu and be happy. But, I want to know, and do not want to give up. I spent hours on the net just because I am interested how to solve it. You cannot blame a man who comes here for the knowledge. It is not just about this particular movie. As for me I would help you people if I could with the same problem. You cannot blame a man for the desire of understanding and trying to figure out how things work! If you do not want to help that's OK. But I tell you you probably helped many pirates on this site already, and I am not a pirate. I did everything legally. So, folks I would appreciate your explanation to me on this matter.

it is NOT legal in canada (i live there also) to download movies off the net that have not even been released yet --- though you are correct that downloading has not been considered as illegal as in the usa and is even legal for some things. bjm

And since I am telling you the truth, that means that my heart and soul are clear. Rememeber that it is the ones who hide you should be careful for, rather the ones who tell you the truth.

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
