You're able to play the file fine, right? Confirm that the movie is really Xvid and not improperly labled as such. Open the movie with G-spot and make sure the 4cc is xvid. In TMPGEnc raise the priority of the "direct show multimedia file reader" to 2. You can find the option in Options>Environmental Settings>VFAPI Plugin. If that doesn't work, try frameserving with Virtualdub. Check the guides section for a how-to.

the priority setting is set to -1 how do i change it to 2 it ive tried doesnt seem to want to change

ok done that was dlicking on the number instead of file. ok set that to 2 tried it again it still not working, also the project wizard says the estimated file size is 9133.43 mb file but i only downloaded a 700mb. ive converted a few xvid files this is the first one ive had problems

What do you mean it's not working? The project wizard wouldn't give you an estimated file size if it was unable to open the movie. Your xvid probably has variable bitrate mp3 audio or perhaps ac3 audio. G-spot will specify which. Either way you'll need to decompress the audio to PCM wav. Open your avi with Virtualdub, click ok if you get a VBR audio error, go to the audio menu and select "full processing mode", then go to file and select "save wav". Use the wav file as the audio source in TMPGEnc. If the avi has ac3 audio you will have to install the AC3 ACM Decompressor before using Virtualdub.

What are you converting to ? VCD, DVD ?? Let us have the video & audio codecs of the original file, how long its playing time is and what you want to finish up with.

I was having many problems with Xvid and Tmpgenc, and with the help from vcdhelp, I am ALMOST acomplishing my task.
I have some Xvid movies, and at thirst atempt to convert them to DVD compliant Mpeg files(I want to burn directly to CDRS,because my DVD player accepts it), Tmpgenc didnīt accepted the files, Installing FFddshow was a solution, but, some of these Xvid played very weird(audio accelerated and error on player), I uninstalled FFddshow and the files played ok again and Tmpgenc keept on accepting Xvid files.
I have Vobsub instaled, and When I loaded the file, the subtitle was automatically loaded, it was great, because i wanted to make the film with subtittles inserted and with vobsub, I didnīt need to frameserv with Vdub(subtittle), but I saw that it only function with TMPGENC v2.57, with earlier versions it didnīt load the subtittle.
but some of the files didīt have sound, so i discovere they were AC3, so i installed the ACD decompressor and ok, appeared the audio, but, subtittle stop autoloading, even with TMPGenc 2.57.
Is there somehing I could do to make vobsub autoload the subtittles inside Tmpgenc???
Thanks... -
What happens when you try to convert with TMPG? Do you get an error message?
