  1. I have been trying to backup Woodstock - a 216 minute movie on dvd - from Australia - - After many unsuccessful attempts with several different methods, i ran it through power dvd and wrote down this info so that perhaps someone will help me:

Video Compression: MPEG2, TV System 625/50 [PAL], Aspect Ratio 16:9, Display Mode: Only letter box, Source Picture Resolution: 720 x 576 (625/50), Frame Rate: 25.00, Source Picture letterboxed:Not letterboxed, Bitrate: 7.50 mbps Audio Attirbute: Audio Coding Mode: Dolby Digital, Sampling Rate: 48kHz, Audo application mode: not specified, Number of Audio channels: 6, Bitrate 384 kbps, Number of audio streams: 1

First, would someone please confirm that cloning or copying this dvd will most likely not work because it is in "PAL"? Then if that is the case, would you still suggest the conversion explained in this link: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=160433 It seems rather complicated and is a year old, so I was hoping that there may be better software or guides available....

Second, if I just can not get the movie copied, I would still like to have the music burned to cds - what would be the best way to edit the songs only from the dvd and then burn?

Thank you to anyone willing to help me out here.

Yes, it is PAL (the standard used over here is Oz). This should not prevent you from copying it in any way, however if you do a straight copy, your copy will also be PAL. Over here, most DVD players can convert between signals (PAL and NTSC) before outputting the picture, so even if the TV can't handle NTSC, the player can output a PAL signal. I'm not sure if most players in the US can do the same and output an NTSC signal. If yours can, then converting to NTSC is not an issue.

If you just want the audio, look at audio rippers in the tools section for something that suits you.
