  1. Hi,
At the moment I am using Quicktime with MPEG component to convert VOB's to Quicktime's to edit in final cut pro. I usually export to DV Stream, and then use ffmpegx to rip the sound, and then combine together by pasting audio track in Quicktime.

ffmpegx seems to be very fast if i want to convert to a divx, but how can I convert to a format that will be usable in final cut pro (without installing any codecs)?

I usually need low quality, and high quality version. I send the low quality to the editor (who only has ISDN!) for immediate editing, and then courier the quicktime file to him so he can drop it in later.

How can I use ffmpegx in this workflow? (or, is there something that i could be doing better?)

I would prefer to register ffmpegx rather than buying mpeg quicktime component, so I am looking forward to any replies.

    Thanks

P.s. I love this program. I would love to see more guides and presets. Keep up the great work!

  2. I would advise to install 3ivx and divx codecs, then convert with "fast DivX", turn the AVI file to MOV with DivX Doctor II (from 3ivx.com), and open and edit the MOV in FCP. Setting I-frames only will make encoding faster and editing easier.
