found various threads where people had this problem but were never given the solution so new thread for anyone interested...
problem: for no apparent reason, suddenly you can't seek in .asf files, in any media player, it just hangs
solution: found by accident, works for me, not sure why...open the file with asftools (available on tools page), choose repair>shrinker, leave tick in "apply extra shrinking" and click shrink. you get a much smaller file, and it seeks fine in wmp/mp classic/zoomplayer...also thumbsplus v5 will now automatically thumbnail it which is a bonus...
if any techheads know why this works, post a reply...
