  1. Hi all.

Could anyone setup a universal remote control to deal with Liteon player ? If yes, which manufacturer code did you use? I can't find my remote

    Thank you.

Conincidentally, I just bought a universal remote from Philips, and it doesn't have the codes for the LiteOn, although it seems to have every manufacturer in the world except that. However, since it has a way of testing every code in it's library to see if it'll work, I tried them all (300 of them), none of them worked.

It seems LiteOn has a different code than any others (not surprisingly) and is not compatible with another manufacturer. This remote was a learning remote, though, so I was able to use my LiteOn remote and just program it by pressing the buttons on the original and setting it manually. It now works perfectly but it took a little while to do.

If you don't have the original remote, though, you have a problem. I looked through all the remotes at the store and not one of them had LiteOn's remote code in them. The only alternative is to order a new remote from LiteOn. Then get a learning remote and program it, and put away the original remote so it doesn't get lost or damaged. One other thing you could do (if you're sneaky) is to buy another LiteOn from PC Club and program a learning remote with it, and return it. Beyond that, you could wait until some remote mfgrs start putting LiteOn's code into their universal remote, when and if that happens.

Or look harder to find the remote you lost...

Are you from Minsk? A friend of mine is from there.

  3. Go back to the place it was nicked from........and ask them for the remote

It will probably cost you as much as the player did to get a new remote from LiteOn. So you are gonna have to sit right close to the TV, or get a seriously long scart/power lead, and dump the player on the sofa......use it to put yer dinner on.

    Yesfan,

You're probably right about the price of the remote. If Belarus lives in SoCal, I'd be happy to loan him mine for a day so he could program a universal rmt with it. If not, maybe someone in his area has one he could use to get his running.

And I'm a Yesfan too...guess you noticed my avatar (Fragile) and nickname (Roundabout). Great band. Been into them since 1971 when I first heard "Your Move/All Good People" and was hooked. Went to my first concert in '74 (Topographic tour). Still my favorite band and always will be.
    Nice Avatar BTW (90125)

  5. Totally agree m8.

Going to see them in July.....must be the last tour now? They have been touring for the past 4 years non stop almost......they are getting on a bit now

One of those bands that no one seems to have heard of but manage to fill football stadiums when on tour.

    Yesfan,

They are going to be here next Tuesday (Apr 20) in Anaheim, Calif.
I would love to see them, unfortunately, I don't have the $$$ for tickets. I was lucky to see them in concert 3 times over the years. Yeah, they are getting on, but so is Mick Jagger and Tina Turner, and they're still going strong. As long as Jon's voice holds up, I hope they keep touring. A friend of mine met Rick W. because his brother-in-law is a concert promoter and got him into some kind of personal dinner meeting with him a couple of years ago. Guess he still lives on Isle of Man (lucky guy!).

I missed the ABWH tour a few years ago, but really enjoyed the tape of it that I saw. I thought that 90125 was a little commercial (but great nonetheless) and my personal favorite LP is Close to the Edge. I chose Roundabout because I heard it more times than any other Yes song and thought more people would recognize it (Siberian Khatru, not a easily spellable moniker :P ).

Great to meet another Yes fan, there's more of us than anyone suspects. BTW, I'm 46 now and I was 16 when I first saw them in concert. Just heard they are calling this their "35th anniversary tour". You're right, seems like no one ever mentions them, but the concerts always sell out. Let's hope they keep going for a long time.

Seasons will pass you by, I get up, I get down...

  7. You've got 10 years on me...... I was being born around the same time Yes were. My introduction to them was the 9012-live tour, hence the avatar..... a relative newbie, although I have managed to see them in concert 5 times so far. Lived quite near London so I was able to see most of them and the ticket prices only seem to be around £20 mark, about $35 I think. The concert in July, which is in Powderham Castle, Exeter, tickets are £40, or $65? Hope its going to be something special?

You are right about the commercial stage, think that was the Rabin influence. Hope they keep going. Hmmmmm think weve drifted a bit off topic here

You're right, it's turned into a music topic. I'd be happy to be back on topic if the original poster reappears, he seems to have vanished at this point. That's probably why no one minds this thread has been hijacked

Well, Belarus, if you're still reading, let me know if you still need help. I'll do what I can to help out.

    Meanwhile, Yes Rules (Britannia)!
