  1. I have converted and burned an AVI file , its a complete movie, which i downloaded. excellent quality!.
I used nero burning rom to do an automatic conversion into .VOB files and burn as a dvd.
So when i go to playback the dvd on my computer , the title screen loads up but the film will only play the first few chapters, then it says the disc is damaged!
I have done this now 4-5 times and its very very time consuming. It wont play atall on a standard dvd player for the tv..
is it a memory related issue? a burner related issue? its so pissing me off.
My burner is a pc world brown box one, budget for building own pc.
it handles both dvd-r and dvd+r discs.
i have updated the firmware but still no luck, it burns at 4xdvd and 40x cdr and 8x also.I would appreciate any help. maybe i should convert the AVI prior to using Nero? but nero is relatively quick (5hrs) as opposed to say 8 hrs using tmpeng etc.........I really would love a solution to this!
    Thanx . ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can only suggest that you try to isolate the processes.

If you can do your conversion to .vob files and play thoes files off your hard drive prior to burning would help isolate the problem.

I asume you have had no problems burning DVD-R in the past. If not try making a backup or copy of a non-copyrighted DVD.
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

You could always buy the downloaded movie... if it is copywritten.

Try not using NERO to encode... use TMPGENC.

Actually... it sounds more like a navigation error than an encoding error. Image the VIDEO_TS folder and mount it on a virtual drive (Like Nero Imagedrive) and see if it plays correctly before you burn it. If all of this works and you still have problems, slow your burning speed, or change your media.

Without knowing what the media code is, I really couldn't tell you. Just to be on the safe side, never buy discount no-name media unless you know its origins. Try using some Japanese fujis or Japanese Maxells. You could also try Ritek...

Not really. I'm not really a media guru... If you have a moment, download dvdinfopro and check the media with this... Find the media code and post it here.
