I want to get this but i don't have 300 dollars to just toss around.
I have a Sony VAIO PCV-RS220
2.4GHZ(I think i am not home now)
512MB RAM
120 GB HD
I have seen all the good reviews for the canopus but i just wanted to hear what you thought.

No disrespect intended, but why don't you search the forum? There are lots of posts on this device, inccluding a good long-term thread that had its last posting just several days ago. Also check comments under "Capture Cards" in the sidebar. Your question describes the very purpose of the feedabck information that users post under "Capture Cards".

you really should have a second hard drive. also check out newegg.com. you can usually find the advc-100 $40-$50 cheaper there.
