  1. Hello,

I'm recently getting to know the world of dvd authoring, aswell as video editing in general.

I recently made a dvd which seemed to work just fine on the computer, and only after making a dozen copies of it I realized that it works bad on normal dvd players (so far on three different ones). This goes unfortunately for all the copies!!

The dvd's work wierd: They stutter or get stuck, skip the first scene or just don't work propperly. What is happening?

I don't know if its because of the burner, the program I'm using (not a very proffessional one yet: Pinnacle studio 9), the type of dvd's I use? (Phillips), or whatever...
If anybody knows how I can avoid this, please let me know!!!

    Many thanx!

    L.

This kind of behaviour is often seen when there are media/player compatability issues. Just because the DVDr's you bought have a big name brand it does not mean they are good (nor does it mean they are bad). Take a look at the media lists overe there <===== and the DVD players lists to see if anyone reccomends particular media for the DVD players you are targetting.

  3. Thanks for your answer.
I agree about not relating to the 'name' too much. However I'm disturbed by the thought that I have to think of the kind of player it should be played on. I would like them to be played everywhere as long as its in my own region. Or am I being too naive?

  4. The right media will give you the widest compatibility but some players, especially older ones, will have problems with even the best media.

Try browsing the media forum for some reccomendations.

  5. Just FYI.... I have seen this problem mentioned on Pinnacles board. I did not burn any new DVD with version 9 so I can't confirm where the problem is...

  6. What writer are you using?

  7. Gee I hope its not the video editing card! And if its the program its not that bad either cause I'm planning to get
    Adobe Premiere soon.

I'm using a Pioneer burner - is that a good one? hope so...
