I'd say here would be the best place to go.
    http://www.xbox-scene.com/
They've pretty much got everything you need. Modchips, tutorials, software, forums, etc. Any XBOX related topics or questions would be better suited there rather than here. Getting your BOX chipped opens up a whole new world, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. Good luck.

  3. all the info you need will be at http://www.xbox-scene.com

The long and short of it is as follows........

you have to hack your xbox so you can bring up the contents of the xbox's HD and DVD drives on your PC via network drive mapping (you will need a router)

you then use a program (cant remember the name of it, but it is on xbox-scene.com) to copy the contents from the xbox's DVD drive to pc in the form of an xiso (the file extension will still be *iso, but its a special kind of iso); you do this while the original game is in your xbox.

once you have done this, you can burn the iso that you made with dvd decrypter. but it will only play in a modded xbox. but of course you cant copy it anyway unless you mod it out first.

    hope this helps,

I have a different method that works perfectly. My XOBX has the Pheonix software on it - no mod chip there boys !

Connect your PC to the XBOX using a crossover cable. FTP to the XBOX and copy the contents of the D folder somewhere on your PC. Use GDFImage to make the ISO. Burn with your favorite burning software.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes, because the standard Xbox doesn't have an ftp server on it.

  10. lol, so i have to get a mod chip installed in my xbox, once that's done, i can go and set up and ftp on it, after that i can rip the game the the 10 gig hard disk, and after that i can transfer the iso image to my pc then burn....

  11. I would replace the hard drive if you want to rip games to it, otherwise just ftp directly from the DVD drive.

With a mod chip I would look for slayers EVOX installer ISO. you burn it to a CD/RW and it installs everything you could want, movie players, rippers ftp server etc.

I have an 80GB drive in mine and copied all my games to it, so now the kids wont destroy/Lose the originals which I keep locked up (you should see my halo disk! Grrrrr)

  12. lol cool, i went to a computer fair today, i tried to get my ps2 chipped but they said my lens wouldn't put up with it or something!.... didn't even know they were doing xbox's there, i will no for next time... :P

  13. I don't even play games on it, I just use it as a media player. I have a server setup in the closet with a prv card in it to record my tv shows (in mpeg-2), then I watch them through my xbox over the network. It's very cool and the quality is great.

  14. I modded my xbox without a mod chip. You do the hard drive hot swap trick, and the bert and ernie files to get pheonix loaded. Then you flash the bios with evox and voila! You got a modded xbox without the cost of a mod.

I then used ftp, played games, watched movies etc with no problems at all.....

That is until I flashed the bios with a bootable from media bios, and then tried to fix it by installing a LPC mod chip and trying to fix the original bios. Anyways the short of that is If it works do not touch it!!!!!! My XBOX had its funeral last week. RIP poor mutilated xbox.

  15. That's a good reason to get a mod-chip, you don't touch the original bios

Setting up everything and getting it to work is a major pain for newbies. It took me countless hours and several days to find everything I needed, update the mod-chip bios then install the software.

Now I could do it all start to finish in about 30 min. Soldering in the mod-chip is the easy part!

  16. Ah someone with alot of knowledge. I have soldered in my mod chip back into the xbox, it was a apple v.

Its kind of a long story but ill try keep it short, screwed up my bios, so i wanted to get a mod chip to run my xbox, i got the idea why not try flash the original bios again, so while the xbox is running and i have the mod chip in, and after it booted off the mod chip i would disconnect certain wires in hopes of using a combination of wires disconnected and flash attempts to somehow reach the original bios. Well of course that does not work. All that time i was just using the apple x with wires soldered between it and the LPC port, D0 and D1.

Then i thought, screw it ill just put it in, so i solder it permanently to the LPC port, and try to boot up, no dice.

So i unsolder it, and man was it hard to get that thing off the xbox mobo once its on. So the mod chip caught some collatoral damage in the process, so i soldered wires directly to the tracks/via's of the mod chip.

Then I soldered those wires to the corresponding parts on the xbox mobo, and tried to fire it up, still no dice. I have done countless checks and re-checks on the proper connections of wires, and even used a multimeter to check from pin on the mod chip, to pin on the xbox motherboard, so its not my soldering or wiring job because all of them show a solid connection in the right place.

Now when I try to boot up i just get the flashing red and green and thats it, nothing i try works, so what could be the problem and what could be possible solutions.

I was thinking that mabye a old microwave, some popcorn, a tiger torch, a slege hammer, a cow, a case of beer, a few friends, and an afternoon may be one possible solution.

Has motherboard and HD combos for $70-80 depending on the version you want.

Basically if you havent destroyed the case, power supply, power button, and joystick port this would give you a new xbox for $80 + shippping.

    http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=122

I bought a loaded case ~($20) and changed the power led color and put lights in the joystick ports and I am going to get my case painted and stick in a cold cathode ring on the top.
