  1. Trying to author some existing HD files (1920x1080i) as a DVD. I don't want to convert the video - I want to use the full res but use menus etc..
DVDlab claims it but doesn't look like they can do it. Is there any software whiich will ignore compliance for this requirement? thanks

Can't be done. 720x480 is the max resolution for a DVD (NTSC). You'll have to wait for the next generation of DVD standards to be released (and players that will play them released).

  3. Maybe, maybe not - DVDLab claims to support it and I've had friends with a certain level of success. I think the key is to find something that will patch the header (like DVDpatcher) or a muxer that doesn't care.

  4. Even if you could do it you couldn't play it on anything. There is no standard yet.

You can probaly create something with an interface that will work in windows media player.

Look at T2. It's a combo DVD with HD content.

The guts of a standard stand alone DVD player won't be able to handle HD resolutions even if you could figure out a way to author it onto a DVD-R

At best it would play but would likely stutter and skip about since the processor in the stand alone wouldn't be able to keep up.

Hell don't you need like a 3.0Ghz CPU to play back the T2 HD content at full quality?

I not sure what imeL6’s end game is, but if one wanted to watch HD video on an HD 16x9 TV there is a $300 product that can stream HD files and play them on an HD TV.

You can also play VOBs from your computer in HD. Special (free) software is needed. See this forum:

My question is how can I make HD MPEG2 slideshows to take advantage of this product?
