  1. I am currently working on a project where I want to speed up the video to very fast motion in parts of it. I was thinking sort of like Benny Hill in his chase scenes.

I know I could just change the framerate to make it play back faster, but I only want to do this to a portion of the video. Even if I save out this portion to a new avi file I would assume I would have problems joining the 2 videos together then.

Anybody have any tips or suggestions on the best way to do this? My ultimate goal is to take the DV footage I have, edit out some garbage, speed up 1 scene while adding music, then convert, author and burn.

I can do everything I've listed except I can't quite grasp speeding up the video.

You can easilly do that by using "velocity envelopes" in Sony Vegas 4.

That allows you to gradually increase the speed, with no sudden change in speed.
You just have to add some key points on the envelope and adjust the speeds of each of them.

I can do this in Adobe Premiere 6 by changing the clip speed ( % )
Download Premiere Pro and try it.

  4. thanks alot guys.. I used Premiere 7.0 Pro and following the information in your link it worked flawlessly. I must admit that NLE is not my specialty. By the way, great information on that site. It has become a bookmark for me.
