    can someone show me or give me a link to a site that explains the best way to convert a vob file into svcd?
    i tried the one on doom9 but couldnt get it to work.

    There are both guides on THIS site and doom9's site.

    Doom9 has some of the most comprehensive and detailed dvd ripping guides ever written. I suggest that you try them again and follow it more closely.
