  1. My friend has a DVD recorder and recorded a tv show for me. i can play it fine, but i wanted to reauthor it to cut out the commercials. i was able to rip it to the HD fine. i've looked around but i cant find any free program that will turn the vob files and such into mpegs. the womble program looked like it might do it but its payware.

i dont think what i'm asking is against forum rules. thanks in advance

Check this thread. Basically you use vobedit and TMPGEnc DVD author. Good luck.

johns0, you're in the other thread too.

You probably don't need to convert the VOBs to MPEG first then author the DVD using those MPEG files.

A much simple solution is to use DVDShrink, in Reauthor, utilize the Set Start/End Frames feature to strip out the commercial.

    DVDShrink is free.

Dvdshrink isnt very good to rip out commercials,it just cuts the beginning and end of tracks, not good for several commercials on a track.

You can drag the same track over to the Reauthor pane as many times as you want.
