  1. I've got a laptop that we've been using the VGA port on a LCD monitor. I built a new PC for that purpose and want to use the laptop to run powerpoint on a TV. The laptop has a RCA port but I can't get anything on the TV from that port. Is there something I have to turn on? On Display the "extend my desktop" is checkout and also "greyed" out. Withe VGA port all i do is hit Function/F2 but it just won't work with the RCA (composite) port. Any ideas?

Right of this "greyed out" function "extend my desktop" there is a button for extended options! You should click on this button and search the following tables for an option to turn on your TV-out composite TV-signal out on this RCA port and an appropriate input on your TV set either direct or through an adaptor. Here in Europe so called large almost rectangular multipin SCART plugs usually are available as TV in on TV sets.

    Good luck

  3. Nope, not there. I click "advanced" and it tells me about the card and the panel for the laptop, but that's about it.

On my desktop ATI Radeon 9200SE card the S-video out transmits a TV-signal if I am playing any video either using Mediaplayer or WINDVD, so any program that utilizes the video overlay modus. The overlay screen gets displayed on this S-Video out. I can even minimize the player program into the bar an I will have the video still runing on the S-video out while I have my regular dektop view on the monitor display.

So to make a short story even shorter may be your TV-out plug only transmits overlay video output and no copy of the regular monitor display as its video resolution is too limited anyway.
