  2. I found that with my card (an AverTV Card) PowerVCR was nothing but a headache. At first I thought the captures were great, but once I started to encode them to DVD format the audio would be terribly out of sync. I found out after checking the files in VirtualDub that Power VCR drops frames...which my encoding software did not like too much.

VirtualVCR and WinTV 2000, I could not get to work correctly on my machine...I couldn't figure out why, they just refused to cooperate and I gave up.

Since then, I have moved on to IUVCR...and LOVE IT!. There are many options, and w/ the PicVideo MJPEG codec, I get perfect captures everytime. I would definately reccomend IUVCR if you are looking for a good solid capture program.

  3. Virtual VCR is most compatible if you ask me. It is free (hooray!). I would not reccomend pre-filtering as it causes the program to lock up. It is highly compatible with WDM drivers and you can download the VirtualVCR schedhuler for free. Does dynamic resampling of audio to make sure audio is in sync, doesn't drop many frames (usually a frame or two when pressing stop, that's it). Try it w/ PicVideo MJPEG

  4. I liked iuVCR but have been using virtualvcr lately. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I also use the Huffy codec instead of the picvideo but it's also working great. I then convert my files to xvid which reduces the size about 90% with no quality loss.

  6. Virtualdub for captuing with all in wonder radeon. 352x480 with svideo off satelite and huffyuv codec. (I like huffyuv and virtualdub's price, $0.00 combined)
Perfect sync every time too after recompressing.
Of course you have to install the vfwwdm wrapper to get it to work.

When I can and if it is possible, I use Virtualdub and only Virtualdub for capturing.
On rare occasions, I use virtualvcr.
For realtime mpeg 2 captures, I use mainconcept

I use VirtualVCR plus huffy codec right now. Works well and it's free.
