  1. I just got an IDE Lite-on 24x CDRW to replace my Plextor 8x SCSI (which I pulled from my system). The Lite-on is master on my 2nd IDE chain. But after much testing I can't seem to get it to burn MPEG files larger than 740MB (ie. to 80min media).

I have 795MB MPEG2 I've encoded. If I try to burn either w/ Nero 5.5.5.1's SVCD template or the VCDImager bin/cue, it gets to 99% or 100% then fails. Sometimes in Nero I get a "scsi device error" before the failure (scsi control card and devices have been removed).

Is this some ASPI problem? Any ideas? I only got this drive to burn/copy x(S)VCD faster, thanks in advance.

  2. Have you tried Preferences/Expert Features and set the overburn options?

  3. Yeah, one reason I got this drive was to use the 90/99min CDRs. I set the overburn to 89:30. Again it always fails at 99% or 100%. I don't know what's wrong.

    What OS are you running?
Also, what are the (Device) Properties for your CDRW?

I am running WinXP with default Device Properties and it runs fine (Ultra DMA Mode 5 *i think*). I own the same exact CDRW, btw.

I have Windows XP Recording Tools *DISABLED* (you can disable when you right-click on the CDRW drive in My Computer)

  5. I'm running winME. Actually I'm making some progress, I was able to burn a 775MB file (still can't burn 795MB files like I use too).

I think that when I went from SCSI to IDE I screwed up the ASPI drivers. I d/loaded the newest (4.60???) ones but can't install them as I don't have any Adaptec products in my PC So might have to reinstall the 2930U2, install ASPI drivers, take out card, and see what happens.

Other problem. Every bin/cue I create has the wrong size info.

795MB MPEG2 runtime 51:35, which creates an 805MB bin file.

BUT, when try to burn w/ Nero or CDRwin comes up as 159:43.33 & 1613MB?!? Tried VCDimager 7.10 and 7.11 (again, TSCV, VCDImager Easy, DVD2SVCD, etc made fine bin/cue files before the new CDRW, but not sure if that's it or not).

  6. Get ForceASPI, or the ASPI Build 1019, they can both install without an Adaptec software/hardware in the system (i've tried) and then upgrade it to the latest Build 1021.

As for Nero, it does NOT burn correctly the Bin Images, use either: FireBurner, CDRWin, BlindWrite, CDRDao.
