    every other format is able to do this except xvid

    i can also make it fullscreen on my regular desktop computer but when i try it on the laptop, the movie plays in a small resolution in the lower left hand corner of the screen.

    Try installing the latest Xvid Codec. If you already have the latest Koepi's build, try FFDSHOW.
