I know this topic has been discussed numerous times, and i've searched through the board looking for answers, but none seemed to help me with my problem.

I've noticed my svcd copies of dvd's are skipping and stuttering towards the 2nd half of the videos (on stand alone dvd players). If you go back and rewind, or shut the dvd player off and restart, it tends to play it fine the 2nd time at the specific part, but reskip later on. I've had the same problem on multiple players.

i use smartripper and dvd2avi for the 1st steps. i then use tmpgencplus for encoding and vcdeasy for burning. I use fuji cds and burn at about 12 or 16X. my tmpg settings for svcd: non-interlace, content:video, CBR: 1600-2400(depended on how much room i have on the disc), Motion search:Highest quality, deinterlace: even field
for the audio i use toolame.

I'm a newbie, so please try and help me in less comlplicated lingo if u can....thanks so much for any help!

  2. Is it possible for you to try the discs on another DVD player. As the problem seems to be time dependant, it could be your player is getting too warm, is it well ventilated. Make sure it is not sat on a carpet and there is nothing blocking any air vents.

I don't think it is the dvd player. I have had the same problem on multiple players. I explored the problem a little further. When it happens, the sound cuts out first, and then you can hear the dvd player making noises (sounds like it is spinning the disc real hard/fast) and then the video freezes, and tries to catch up (stutters) and keeps freezing.

On the first few discs I made, the problem wasn't this bad. It only happened on the last minute of the disc. I was thinking that might be due to bad cds, that sound right? But now, it is happening throught the movie. PLease help! do u htink the bitrate is too high causing the dvd player to have troubles reading it?
