Have problems with all video playback. Everything stutter. It is real annoying to watch, when the picture "jumps" every few second.

What codecs should i use? With this hardware:

    Ati5770
    Phenom iix4 965
    6gb ram
    Ssd disk

This settup should be powerful to run all video without any problems. I now use mpc with ffdshow audio codec and xvid 1.3 codec as external filters. The rest is mpc's internals.

Have tried vlc a long time ago, and now again yesterday. It is the same with vlc. My monitor is 46" samsung led. can it be something with hz setting? or somthing?

  4. Have you tried changing the DirectShow renderer? View -> Options -> Playback -> Output.

Before doing anything more drastic, I'd uninstall ffdshow, manually delete the folder, also MPC, run a registry cleaner and reboot. Then install MPCHC and ffdshow.

Since you say *everything* is stuttery, have you checked the Hz settings for your video card to be sure it matches the HDTV? Maybe the drivers for that should be re-installed as well. I have a Radeon card and it seems I have to re-install the drivers every few months, as they get corrupted somehow.

    Good luck.

The render is coustom evr or somthing, that it needs to be to use dxva.

Have installed, unistalled everything, tried every codec pack, and single codecs there is Have reinstalled and removed radeon drivers at least 15 times, not that I count or anything, but no perfect result.

The hz settings is 60hz in windows, have tried to set it down to 50hz and then the problem was worse than now.

Can it have something to do with chipset drivers or somthing in my machine that is a bottleneck and slow thing down?

  6. The usual advice here in regard to codec packs is to *never* install one. They can cause all sorts of problems, often times obscure and difficult to fix. The Nimo codec pack was notorious at one time because the best option was a re-install of the OS.
I have first-hand experience. Curse you Nimo.

My only guess at this point is to uninstall any codec packs. If you have installed Haali splitter, uninstall that as well, delete the program folder and run a registry cleaner. If Haali splitter gets corrupted, it can cause a problem like yours. Re-install ffdshow and Haali only. But I'm just guessing.

As to chipset drivers, you can re-install them and see.

I will do that. I have discovered that it is mostly with xvid/divx files there is a problem. mkv's are fine it seems, but theese are run with dxva so that may have something to say.

should I dissable all internals in mpc? and add haali as prefer external codecs?

I did what you said, removed all, registry cleaner..installed ffdshow and haali then mpc. Then I added ffdshow audio codec to mpc and haali media renderer as external filters? Is this right?

Think this setting works perfectly, have tried a bunch of movies and tv series now and cant see stutter or any thing like what was there before, it is like I'm waiting for it, but it doesn't show

Only problem I had now was with one movie that has dts-hd ma audio, using haali renderer the movie and the sound doesnt work together, only that spesific movie. Another with same audio full hd worked so it may be problem with that file only. But it have worked with old setting.

  9. Check ffdshow Audio Decoder Configuration: Click "Codecs" in upper left. Look at "DTS" in the right-hand pane. Is it set to "libdts"? If not, click it and a drop-down list will appear, hit libdts, apply, okay. TrueHD should be set for libavcodec.

So you're saying almost all files play okay now? If all codec packs are eradicated and you do the above, then it's probably something wrong with the file.

As to Haali, you can try it either way and see. I suspect your problem was screwed up DirectShow filter priority, or corruption or conflict of/with a splitter. You may have had two splitters that conflicted, i.e. Gabest and Haali. Note that you don't really need a DivX or XviD codec, as ffdshow can handle that too, with libavcodec enabled in Video Decoder Configuration under DivX, etc. Now if you're *encoding* XviD, you do need an external codec.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the help

I use the internal mpc codec for xvid and divx and it seems to work, but I can try adding ffdshow video decoder to external filters in mpc if you meen it is better?

  11. I for one can't tell. Many (most?) people will say use the internal MPC decoders, and configure DXVA for HD if your video card supports it. For the purposes of decoding H.264, VC-1 and MPEG2 and *encoding* BD with, say, BDRB, ffdshow decoders are all one needs.

Now I have watched two new mkv hd movies and there is the problem again, have tried with mpc internals and ffdshow, nothing helps. The hd I tried with last still dont stutter, but this two new ones does. Its like a frame skip or something and happens maybe every 10-15 seconds.

Is there a way to download mpc x64 without any internals codecs so that I can configure this all on my own?
