    Hey guys,

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this DVD burning process. I currently got DVD X Copy for free and used it a couple of times to copy to the hard drive and burn. The thing i noticed is that there is no burn speed selection for X Copy. What do you guys reccomend for copying and burning as far as software is concerned? If you guys could please kind of walk me through the steps in what to do I would greatly appreciate it. I really am a newbie at this when it comes to all this advanced burning and copying.

    FYI-I'm using a Pioneer DVR-A07U 8X+/- and I'm using Memorex DVD-R 4X. *I already upgraded to the new firmware.

Have a look at DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink these seem to be the programmes of choice on this forum.

I believe DVD Decrypter will burn and DVD Shrink will burn if you have Nero installed.

Both Decrypter and Shrink are Free Programmes.

DVD Shrink is probably the easiest to learn , occasional it comes across DVDs it can't rip which is when DVD Decrypter comes into it own

There are good guides for both of these programmes via the Tools Secton on the left.

  3. I've got dvd shrink, dvd decrypter, dvd x copy platinum, record now max, smart ripper, and intervideo dvd copy2 platinum installed on my system. Out of these I normally use decrypter and shrink. I just got intervideo and am still learning about how that works. Its suppose to give the best output quality, but there are things about it that i don't like about it already.

When it comes dvd x copy I don't really like it too much. The program works good for backing up movie, but the main problem with it for me is that you can't easily back up the back ups you create with it. 321 Studios created there software so it puts a weird type of copyright protection on the backups it creates so it makes it difficult to copy those. I'm sure there's ways around that, but I haven't used that program enough to bother with figuring that out.

I would recommend getting dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. They are competely free to use and fairly easy to learn.

  4. If you have cable you could also download AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2. AnyDVD just sits in your sys tray (down by your time) and will take the CCS away making every DVD look like it has no protection. CloneDVD 2 has probably one of the easiest and most flexible menus. I've had point and click newbies use it with no problems. They both have a 30 day free trial.

  5. I have used DVD Decrypter ans DVD Shrink with very good results.I just purchased the Nero Ultra Edition which includes a program called Recode2.The person who is responsible for DVD Shrink also had a lot of input on Recode 2.The only difference is Recode 2 might be a bit faster for me.Decrypter and Shrink are free.
    I use Ritek GO4's,genuine TDK's,And genuine Maxells.DVD-R=NO COASTERS

I use DVD X Copy Platinum (usually in simple mode) and I can't say I've really had any problems with it. Once in a blue moon if I make 2 backups one after another it may fail to clear the cache and looks like it rips in 15 seconds, but then I just close it an restart, no big deal. I was starting to get tired of the DVD backup screen before the movie, but that was more a time issue than anything else, and 321Gone takes care of that for me. In rare cases I haven't been able to copy a backup with Roxio or Nero, but not often and most times I don't have any need for an additional backup. Everyone here seems to like DVD Shrink and although I haven't used it much I can say I've never had a problem with it. But for simplicity and ease of use I'd say DVD X Copy is hard to beat.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
